If I had it my way, I would install and push a massive reset button on 2020. But since I do not have that power, I decided to invest that spirit into Blue Unicorn Crafts.
Those who have followed me on Instagram and Facebook for awhile may have noticed a new unicorn sneak his way onto the platforms. His name is Knook and he’s the new mascot for Blue Unicorn Crafts!

While I have loved my previous logo from Planit Ink for the last 6 years, I have been feeling a little disconnected from it. As a transmasculine person, it’s hard to feel a part of the crochet/craft world because so much of it is feminine coded. There have been sometimes where I have felt invalidated because my favorite hobby is seen as “girly.” So while Treva’s logo work is amazing, I decided it was time to find something that represented me and my work just a little better.

During quarantine, a Quidditch teammate launched a new design business and I jumped at the chance to collaborate with her. Rae was amazing to work with, offering quick edits to help tweak the design into what I envisioned in my head. We’ve known each other for years and I felt that helped to enhance Knook’s overall style.
Rae also designed the Texas Horseshoe Design that you see on the Facebook and blog banners.

Knook and the new design have been a much needed refresh to my creativity. I’m looking forward to utilizing them as I reopen my Etsy and work on building more inventory. Expect some items to be added next month, with a “grand reopening” sometime in the new year.
Check out Rae and her designs at DesignsbyBlythe. She has some great stickers currently available.
Also! Special shoutout to my good friend Lynn for Knook’s name.
Happy crafting,
Bert
